Simple Tips And Effective Email Marketing Strategies

In order to have an effective email marketing strategy, the focus should be on the person receiving the email.  Tailoring each email campaign to fit the needs of your contact list will assist you in getting all you can from your email marketing efforts.  By focusing on the specific needs of your community, your message will be more concise and will bring better results.  The following hints and tips can help you create emails that will be effective at nurturing your community and as a result lead to long term followers and increased sales for your business.

1. Use A/B testing to test out different combinations in your subject line. Split your email list in half and send emails to the two groups of addresses using different subject lines. This lets you know which subject lines are successful and which need some work.

2. Email marketing is about building relationships with your community.  Once they know, like and trust you it is more likely that they will buy your products.  Thus, each and every message should focus on building that relationship.  An effective email marketing strategy includes emails that are informative and share content or videos your community finds valuable and emails that provide links to free articles or relevant blog posts.

3. Generally speaking, it is not a good idea to send out important marketing email messages during major holidays.  Chances are that most of your community will never even see your email because they will not be near their offices or their computers.  Keep in mind that there could be exceptions to this.  For example, if you’re having a holiday sale, especially a Black Friday sale, you might want to send an email over the holiday.

4. Always take feedback seriously when it comes to your email marketing campaign.  Active feedback and/or passive feedback can be quite helpful.  Active feedback entails soliciting suggestions and opinions from your subscribers through polls or by asking for reply emails.  Good examples of  questions to ask new subscribers are “Why did you request my free offer?”, “What challenges are you facing in your business related to __________?”.  Passive feedback is also very helpful, but is more subtle.  Passive feedback includes analysis of which links your subscribers click on or which types of emails have the highest open rates.  Your email marketing service provider should provide you with email statistics for each email you send.  An effective email marketing strategy includes utilizing all the tools and stats that are available to you to tweak your campaigns and provide the most value to your community.

These are just a few tips that, if incorporated in your email marketing strategy, will not only serve your community but will also result in increased credibility and revenue for your business.
